Platinum is a chemical element of symbol Pt and atomic number 78 (78 protons and 78 electrons), and atomic mass equal to 195.1 u. It is a dense, malleable, ductile chemical element, has little reactivity, precious, has bleached silver coloration and is a transition metal.

Platinum is a member of the platinum group and is in Group 10. It naturally has six isotopes. It is a scarce chemical element, of which about 5 μg / kg is found in the lithosphere on average. Because of its scarcity in the Earth’s crust, since only a few million tons are produced, it is considered the most expensive and precious metal.
